EIGE shall equally foster the exchange of good practices and dialogue between stakeholders and raise EU citizen awareness of this policy area by providing technical assistance to the Community institutions, in particular the Commission, as well as the authorities of the Member States. In the course of its work to promote and strengthen gender equality EIGE will also strive to eliminate gender discrimination.
The traineeship shall aim principally to:
  • provide work-training experience in key areas of the Institute's work;
  • extend and apply knowledge acquired in the course of studies or working life;
  • provide practical working knowledge of the Institute;
  • enable the trainee to acquire work experience through the contacts s/he makes.

All documentary evidence of any professional experience must indicate start and end dates for previous positions and the start date and continuity for the current position held. Candidates must be prepared to submit proof of their qualifications upon request since if successful, they will be required to produce originals of their diplomas, academic qualifications and employment certificates upon request.
A Selection Committee shall oversee the analysis of the applications to assess and select those best matching the profile and qualifications required for this traineeship. On this basis the Selection Committee can invite the best admissible candidates for an interview which may include other appropriate testing.

All inquiries for information should be sent by e-mail to eige.hr@eige.europa.eu, quoting the reference of the traineeship.

4. Engagement and Conditions of Traineeship
Engagement for a traineeship will be decided by the Institute’s Director on the basis of a reserve list of candidates proposed by the Selection Committee. Candidates should note that an inclusion to the reserve list does not guarantee selection. The established reserve list may be used for other similar traineeships depending on the Institute's needs and will be valid until the 31 December following the year of engagement.
The traineeship is supported by a monthly grant equivalent to €750. While a travel allowance will be provided, trainees however will have to make their own health insurance arrangements.
Applicants are advised to read Decision No. 2011/765 since it contains relevant information with regards to traineeships at the Institute.

5. Data Protection
The purpose of processing of the data submitted by candidates is to manage each application in view of a possible pre-selection and recruitment as a trainee at the Institute. Unsuccessful application files shall be kept for two years following the closure of the selection procedure, after which time they are destroyed. The personal information requested from applicants will be processed in line with Regulation (EC) N°45/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18th December 2000 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the Community institutions and bodies and on the free movement of such data.

6. Lithuania and living in Vilnius
A member of the Schengen Area, Lithuania borders Latvia, Belarus, Poland and the Kaliningrad region of Russia. Its western coastline - noted for its fine beaches, dunes and majestic pines - straddles the Baltic Sea. Lithuanian summers are sunny and warm with an average temperature of +17 C. Winter is white and generally cold with average temperatures that hover around – 4 C.
Vilnius is Lithuania's capital with an estimated population of just over half a million citizens. It has impressive Baroque, Gothic, Renaissance and Russian architecture as well as one of Europe's largest medieval old towns, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1994.  A university city since the Middle Ages, Vilnius is the centre of the country's politics, business, science, culture and entertainment and it attracts an increasingly varied assortment of local and international events. In addition to hosting a number of international schools, it has a developed infrastructure and ambitious future plans.

JEF International Seminar Athens, Greece| 14-19 April 2013

Co-organised by JEF-Europe and JEF-Greece, the international
seminar “EuroMed Vibes: Back to the roots of Democracy” will
take place in Athens, from 14 to 19 April 2013
As the Arab Spring has moved across the Middle East and North Africa, grassroots calls for democratic
reform have opened avenues for increased political participation by traditionally marginalized groups.
Young people, often at the vanguard of the reform movements, have seized platforms to present their
visions for the future of their countries. But in many instances they face barriers to achieving decisionand
policy-making roles, particularly within traditional political institutions.

About the seminar
In view of better understanding the underlying causes of the Arab Spring and how to continue the
Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in the future, we will look back at the Greek roots of the concept
of democracy: demos (people) and kratos (rule). We aim to draw parallels to the significant role
young people in particular played in the recent movements for change and what challenges lie ahead
for sustained political engagement.
The seminar will try to find out how undemocratic societies can grow and develop into full-fledged
democracies with respect to human rights and the rule of law. In this respect the problematic
situation in Belarus and the continuous obligation of Council of Europe member states to abide by
their commitments (recently Hungary) deserve additional attention as well and can be used as casestudies.

How will we work
The working methodology is based on a combination of non-formal and formal education methods
and on a strong interaction with democratic and civil society representatives.
In order to ensure smooth functioning of the activities the team of trainers will meet on several
occasions before the seminar to plan the implementation of the programme. Efforts will be made to
find speakers with different professional, political and geographical backgrounds. The trainers,
facilitators and participants will be selected in order to constitute a representative and gender
balanced group of young people from all over the European continent with inclusion of several
participants from the Euro-Mediterranean region.

To apply please follow the link HERE
Practical information:
Deadline for applications: 10 February 2013.
Participation fee: 120 EUR for JEF members and 150 EUR for non-JEF members.
Travel reimbursement: 70% of travel costs (maximum reimbursement = 170 EUR)

Brief info on training topic importance:
Young people are the leaders of tomorrow, but their active engagement
can start today. The 2013 Youth in Action for Conflict Transformation and
Peacebuilding programme aims to activate young entrepreneurship for positive
social change through an international training and networking experience. With
the globalization of our contemporary world, young people in Europe and abroad
are faced with complex social and political environments. Too often, these
complex environments become marred by conflict and violence, destroying the
foundations of security, prosperity, and partnership. Navigating these complex
environments in ways that build social cohesion and solidarity while meeting
the needs of an ever more diverse population is the challenge of our time. This
challenge requires youth people to acquire competencies in intercultural
communication, conflict analysis and transformation, collaborative
decision-making, and peacebuilding. It also requires young people to acquire
competency and confidence in social entrepreneurship, including needs
identification, conflict-sensitive project planning and stakeholder management,
human resources development, project evaluation, and communications.

Main aim of the training:
In alignment with the objectives of the EU’s Youth in Action programme,
the main aim of the training is to provide a valuable experience of non-formal
training for youth that fosters critical thinking, active citizenship,
solidarity and tolerance among young people, as well as promoting the
acquisition of skills leading to personal, social and professional development.

Working Methods
The project a variety of learning methodologies, combining conceptual
learning, group dialogue, experiential activities, collaborative problem
solving, group presentations, and introspection. The programme’s conceptual and
practical training is supported by exploration of case studies, experience
sharing, field trips, and hands-on experience. The methodologies provide
variety and flexibility to optimise the non-formal learning process for
participants of all age groups, religious and cultural traditions, and
professional experience. This variety also fosters a sense of ownership among
the participants over the program’s process and outcome.

Preparation of the workshop:
Participants will receive a pre-assignment that involves preparing for
the cultural evening, researching about issues that affect their societies,
peace initiatives, and engaging in discussions about intercultural
understanding in Europe. Additionally they will share their expectations in
advance, which together with their profiles, will be used to create the
substantive content of the workshop. This pre-assignment will serve as a
baseline to understand the type of participants, their knowledge and
experiences in relation to intercultural education.

During the workshop:
All methodologies are participatory which ensure active learning and
ownership of the learning process. Participants will work collaboratively and
will plan concrete, simple and practical actions plans to implement in their
countries.

I am here for your questions with great
pleasure.
