In September 2009 the UNDP Bratislava Regional Centre (BRC) started implementation of the Programme „Public Finance for Development: Strengthening Public Finance Capacities in the Western Balkans and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)".  The Programme is financed by the Ministry of Finance of Slovakia and will last till June 2014.
The objective of the Programme is to contribute to developing public fiancé capacities and improving public finance management systems in other countries via sharing knowledge and experience from public finance reforms in Slovakia.
Currently, the Programme is implemented in Moldova and Montenegro. Implementation will start in Ukraine and potentially in Serbia in 2012.
The Programme is the first example in Slovakia of a bilateral development assistance provided on programmatic basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

Would you like to be part of this unique pilot project?
Your activities would mainly cover the following:
1. Research and Data collection:
  • Collecting information about potential partner organisations (NGOs, media, universities, research institutes, etc.) in beneficiary countries;
  • Collecting and verifying information about other donor activities in the current and potentially future  beneficiary countries;
  • Verifying data and/or information provided by Programme Manager or other UNDP Country Offices;
  • Other as requested by Programme Manager.

2. Knowledge management:
  •  Support Programme Manager in development of expert database;
  • Helping Programme Manager in conducting selection processes for public finance experts from the database;
  • Updating the Programme website;
  • Developing promotional materials;
  • Assisting Programme Manager with preparation of financial reports and progress reports to Programme Board and other stakeholders
  • Other as requested by Programme Manager.
When and where would you work?
  • 3-4 days per week or as required by Programme Manager
  • UNDP BRC premises in Bratislava, possibility to work from home as per agreement with Programme Manager

Required Skills and Experience

Education:
  • Enrollment in a degree programme in a graduate school (second University degree or higher) preferably with specialized certification in economics, development studies or relevant discipline.
Experience:
  • Prior working experience is welcomed but not necessary
Language requirements:
  • Proficiency knowledge of English and Slovak.
